York County Communities that Care brings together schools, community agencies, local government, parents and youth to promote the health and well-being of adolescents through out York County. The 2013 PA Youth Survey results indicate the greatest risk factors affecting our youth are perceived risk of drug use, parental attitudes favorable to antisocial behavior and family of antisocial behavior. This means many of York County adolescents do not perceive drug use to be risky behavior, youth have parents that use illegal drugs, are heavy users of alcohol or are tolerant of children’s use of these substances, and youth are being raised in families with a history of behaviors such as violence and substance abuse.
York County Communities that Care seeks to address these risk factors with evidenced based programs, educational campaigns, and community awareness. Join the movement and be a champion for York County youth!
